: The Mary Onettes
With their self-titled debut album in 2007, The Mary Onettes quickly became an international sensation. Their music was featured on TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, received glowing reviews in magazines like Pitchfork and Stereogum, and toured extensively in Europe, the US and Asia. Apart from a couple of singles and a re-release of the band's first album, things have been relatively quiet from The Mary Onettes in recent years.
The band members concentrated on other things in life, and singer and songwriter Philip Ekström found a new musical path as a producer and composer of film music. In recent years, however, things have started bubbling under the surface, big time.
They have managed to captivate audiences from near and far, despite not being on stage since 2017. Most notably, Cry For Love, from their second album Islands, was featured in one of Japan's biggest Netflix series First Love last year. Now The Mary Onettes are finally coming back, with both a live comeback and a new full-length album on the horizon.
